Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally meet in the ring after their long-awaited heavyweight showdown was officially confirmed for December 11 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
The all-British clash has been years in the making, with the location proving to be the final major obstacle before the fight could be announced.
The bout will be streamed live globally on Netflix.
Reaction to the showdown
Turki Alalshikh confirmed the news on social media, bringing an end to the uncertainty surrounding the venue.
“For 15 years no one has been able to make this fight. Back in April, I said that any announcement would come from me,” Alalshikh wrote.
“I can now confirm that Fury Vs Joshua will be coming to the UK, as I promised British boxing fans. The time for talking is over.”
Cardiff’s Principality Stadium was ultimately selected after New York’s Madison Square Garden had emerged as a potential alternative.
Joshua had insisted that the fight take place in the UK under the terms of his agreement, while Fury’s side had been more open to an overseas venue.
Both fighters are former two-time heavyweight world champions but have never previously shared a professional ring.

Form and preparation
Fury enters the bout with a 36-2-1 record, having returned from retirement earlier this year to beat Arslanbek Makhmudov on points before stopping Mariusz Wach in July.
Joshua is 30-4 and most recently stopped Kristian Prenga in the second round after recovering from two first-round knockdowns.
Joshua also welcomed the announcement with a cryptic social media post.
“The quietest ones often pull the strings,” Joshua wrote alongside a picture of himself in front of a Union Jack.
“Those who appear least involved may hold the greatest control. Let them shout first, the wisest wait until the final move.”
The fight will mark the first professional meeting between two of Britain’s biggest heavyweight names, with further details on the undercard still to be announced.
