Boxing news: Anthony Joshua v Tyson Fury superfight set for late 2026

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have reportedly signed their respective contracts to meet in the centre of the ring in the final quarter of 2026.

Reaction to the breaking news

“Signed, sealed and delivered! AJ vs Fury is on!” Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn exclaimed on his social media.

He went on to say that it is “the biggest piece of business we’ve ever done but more importantly the one we’ve always wanted.

“Biggest year of AJ’s career coming up, the comeback is on.”

Joshua’s return to the ring

Joshua will first clash with Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on July 25.

The fight marks Joshua’s return to action after surviving a fatal car accident in Nigeria which took the lives of two of his close team-mates and friends.

“It’s no secret I’ve taken some time to consolidate and rebuild to be ready for stepping back into the ring and today is the next step on that journey,” Joshua said of his return.

“I’m delighted to have agreed a multi-fight deal starting with July 25 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

“I’m looking forward to competing and picking up where I left off. As I said: The landlord will collect his rent. That is certain,” he continued.

Fury ready to go

“Fury has just had his tune-up fight with 12 really vital rounds to get him sharp for the next one and I expect us to do the same,” Hearn said, referring to Fury’s recent fight with Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“I want you, AJ, Anthony Joshua,” Fury said after the fight. “Let’s give the fight fans what they want – the Battle of Britain.

“I challenge you Anthony Joshua to fight me, the Gypsy King next,” Fury professed.

“Do you accept my challenge?” He asked Joshua.

“I’ve been chasing you the last 10 years, when you’re ready you come and see me and tell me your terms and conditions,” Joshua responded.

“I’m the boss, you work for me. I’m the landlord. You work for me.”

In a fight that will redefine British boxing in the modern era, fans have been salivating for years at the potential of a Joshua-Fury clash.
