The New England Patriots will face the Seattle Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on Sunday, as Super Bowl 60 crowns the 2025 NFL champions.

The Patriots are chasing history, aiming to secure a seventh Vince Lombardi Trophy, but they face a formidable challenge against a Seahawks side widely regarded as the favourites after an impressive season.

Sunday’s final will be a rematch of the classic Super Bowl encounter in 2015 that saw the Patriots deny Seattle back-to-back titles thanks to Malcom Butler’s iconic goal-line interception.

As one of the biggest sporting spectacles of the year, the Super Bowl once again promises more than just high-level American football.

The on-field action will intersect with glitzy promotions for films, television, and global brands, alongside a much-anticipated halftime performance from Puerto Rican pop superstar Bad Bunny.

Patriots back into Super Bowl contention

This is the Patriots’ first Super Bowl appearance since 2019, when they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 41-33.

That day they still had the legendary quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick, and Sunday marks the first time they have reached a Super Bowl without either of them.

Mike Vrabel has guided England back to the NFL’s biggest stage.

The Patriots’ regular season was not always convincing, but they did enough to reach the playoffs before finding form at the right time.

Consecutive postseason victories over the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans, and Denver Broncos secure their place in the Super Bowl.

The AFC Championship win came in challenging conditions as they edged past an injury-hit Broncos in a snowy, mistake-filled contest in Denver two weeks ago.

While they have beaten whoever has been placed in front of them, the Patriots now face their toughest test yet against a dominant Seattle outfit.

Seahawks enter as favourites

The Seahawks return to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2015 and oddsmakers have them down as favourites due to their strength in both defensive and offensive play this season.

Seattle earned a first-round playoff bye, before defeating division rivals San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams in successive weeks to capture the conference title.

Their strength lies in defence particularly.

Coordinated by British coach Aden Durde – the first overseas coach to reach this level in the NFL – Seattle have conceded the fewest points in the league this season.

Aside from against the Rams, they have allowed no more than 16 points in each of their last eight games.

The Seahawks have lifted the Lombardi Trophy once before, in 2014, and now appear well positioned to add a second championship to their history.

Bad Bunny headlines the halftime show

The entertainment surrounding the Super Bowl is almost as iconic as the game itself.

Millions of viewers tune in for the halftime show alone, with previous headliners including names such as Beyonce, Shakira, and Rihanna.

This year’s spotlight belongs to Bad Bunny, who follows Kendrick Lamar’s record-breaking halftime show, watched by over 133.5 million viewers.

It marks Bad Bunny’s second Super Bowl appearance having previously performed alongside Shakira and Jennifer Lopez in 2020.

The world’s most streamed artist, Bad Bunny released his latest album ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’ in early 2025, and was recorded entirely in Spanish.

His halftime performance is expected to follow the same style, potentially making it the first Spanish-language led show in Super Bowl history.

Before the game, Green Day will perform at an anniversary ceremony, while Charlie Puth is set to sing the national anthem.

Additional surprise appearances have been teased, ensuring celebrity involvement will be front and centre.

Super Bowl 60 prediction

While the Patriots have been resilient and found ways to win, they have not consistently produced their best football this season.

Facing a Seahawks team in peak form presents a significant challenge for the New Englanders.

Seattle’s disciplined defence appears well suited to limiting the Patriots’ big-plays, while their offensive balance gives them the tools to capitalise on their mistakes.

The Super Bowl represents a rare convergence of sport, entertainment, celebrity, and business on a global stage, and Super Bowl 60 looks set to deliver on that spectacle once again.
