Timeform rates Sun Goddess over Senorita Bonita ahead of Cheveley Park Stakes

Sun Goddess is 6lb clear on the Timeform ratings of her closest rival Senorita Bonita in Saturday’s Cheveley Park Stakes.

Both fillies won impressively in Group 1 company last time out, with Sun Goddess’ rating jumping 10lb to 120 following her win in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh, while Senorita Bonita’s rating increased 7lb after her win in the Prix Morny at Deauville.

Libertango recorded a Timeform rating of 109p when winning the Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York’s Ebor Festival, with the ‘p’ indicating the likelihood of improvement to come.

The fact Sun Goddess, Senorita Bonita and Libertango are all set to line up means Saturday’s Group 1 Cheveley Park features three of the four highest-rated two-year-old fillies this season and three of the top 10 highest-rated juveniles in 2026.

‘A race to savour’

Timeform’s Andrew Asquith said: “There may only be six runners in this year’s Cheveley Park Stakes, but it certainly isn’t lacking in quality, with Sun Goddess, Senorita Bonita and Libertango among the highest-rated two-year-old fillies in training.

“Libertango beat Sun Goddess comfortably at Royal Ascot earlier in the year, but the latter has since improved in leaps and bounds and heads Timeform’s two-year-old rankings.

“Libertango was then beaten by Senorita Bonita at Newmarket, but that was a messy race which didn’t get to the bottom of either, and they have both advertised the form in no uncertain terms since.

“On ratings, Sun Goddess should prove hard to beat, but the other two remain with untapped potential and it may not be that simple, Libertango in particular having much more to offer back on faster ground.

“Either way, it is one of the best renewals of the Cheveley Park in years, and it is a race to savour.”

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua announced

Gavriel leads Cambridgeshire Handicap

In the Cambridgeshire Handicap, the John and Thady Gosden–trained Gavriel comes out on top of Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings on 122p, clear of nearest rival and course-and-distance winner Erzindjan on 121.

Asquith said: “Pipedreamer, Wissahickon and Lord North were all three-year-old winners of the Cambridgeshire for John Gosden this century, and Gavriel is another with a similarly progressive profile for the team in this year’s renewal.

“He tops Timeform weight-adjusted ratings following his handicap debut success at Ascot this month where he proved his opening mark thoroughly inadequate, doing especially well to overcome a pace bias in the manner he did.

“A well-run race over this trip should suit him perfectly and several of the fancied runners are drawn high.

“Gavriel looks well-in under a 4lb penalty and has the Timeform ‘small p’ attached to his rating, denoting he’s open to further improvement.”
