A Kentucky Derby rematch between winner Golden Tempo and runner-up Renegade is anticipated in the 158th running of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday at Saratoga Race Course, New York.

The 1 1/4-mile race held a draw on Monday and revealed the post positions of every horse entered in the race.

Renegade, ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr and trained by Todd Pletcher, drew post position No. 4 and opened as a 2-1 favorite going into Saturday’s race.

The horse is coming off a second-place finish in the Kentucky Derby behind Golden Tempo.

Golden Tempo, trained by Cherie Devaux, drew the No. 9 post in the nine-horse field and opened with 9-2 odds, which is the third-best odds for the race.

The Jose Ortiz-ridden horse will run for the first time after the Kentucky Derby after his connections opted not to run him in Preakness, which was won by Napoleon Solo.

Chief Wallabee out to spoil Renegade-Golden Tempo showdown

Chief Wallabee is the second choice in Belmont with 3-1 odds. The Bill Mott-trained horse is set to start out of the No. 3 post.

Mott trained Sovereignty to victory in the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont last year.

Jockey Junior Alvarado is set to ride Chief Wallabee and will look to bring the trainer another Belmont win.

New York-based trainer Chad Brown will enter three horses in the race in Emerging Market (6-1), Ottinho (20-1) and Growth Equity (12-1). Emerging Market, who will be ridden by Flavien Prat, placed 10th in the Kentucky Derby.

Brown has never won the Belmont and he hopes Emerging Market will break the jinx. He described the horse as “has not taken a step back” since the Derby.

Rest of the field

The rest of the field includes Brad Cox’s Commandment (6-1), Doug O’Neill’s longshot Vitruvian Man (30-1), and Pletcher’s second horse, Powershift (12-1).

Golden Tempo’s trainer Devaux returns to Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, where she was born and spent some of her early career looking to win two Triple Crown races in the same year.
