Lando Norris sealed an emotional home victory at the 2025 British Grand Prix on Sunday, taking full advantage of Oscar Piastri’s penalty in what was a chaotic wet-dry race at Silverstone.

The McLaren pair looked set for a straight fight after trading the lead in tricky conditions, but Piastri was slapped with a 10-second penalty for erratic driving during a race restart following one of the three safety car interventions.

That call came just before the switch to slicks and effectively handed Norris the lead, with Piastri forced to serve the penalty in the pits – a frustrating outcome for the man currently leading the Drivers’ Championship.

Norris went on to control the final stint of the race, becoming the first British driver to win at the circuit since Lewis Hamilton in 2021 and the first McLaren driver to do so since Hamilton in 2008.

In the end, from wet to dry and heartbreak to home glory, Silverstone delivered yet another modern classic.

Hulkenberg finally lands podium

Nico Hulkenberg delivered one of the stories of the season, claiming his first career podium after 15 years in Formula 1.

The Sauber driver held off home favourite Lewis Hamilton in the closing stages to finish third, also marking his team’s first podium since 2012.

Max Verstappen recovered from a mid-race spin to finish fifth, while Pierre Gasly and Lance Stroll did brilliantly to cross the finish line in P6 and P7, respectively.

Alex Albon, Fernando Alonso, and George Russell rounded out the top 10.

The result sees Piastri’s championship lead cut to just eight points, with Norris now firmly in the title hunt as F1 heads to Hungary in two weeks’ time.
