Sky Sports and Zuffa Boxing have signed a multi-year agreement in a groundbreaking deal for the combat sports industry.

“We want to put on the best possible fights with the best fighters in the world,” Dana White told Sky Sports referring to the promotion’s goals.

Zuffa Boxing is headed by UFC President White and WWE President Nick Khan.

Details of the agreement

The partnership promises a minimum of five shows in the United Kingdom per year for the duration of the agreement.

“Everybody’s undefeated in boxing, that’s going to change over the next couple of years,” White said regarding the plans for the company moving forward.

“You know, if you look at how the UFC was built, I took everything that I loved about boxing and everything that I hated about boxing when building that business.

“So if it works so well for the UFC, it should work even better for boxing.”

Nothing but the best

After the confirmed signings of big industry names Conor Benn and Jai Opetaia, White maintained his need to bring in the world’s best fighters to the promotion.

“We’re going to continue to sign not only the best fighters in the world, but fighters that we believe have the potential to be world champions someday,” White said.

Where the journey started

“I wouldn’t be where I am today without boxing,” White said, when talking about the influence of the sport on his life and rise in business.

“Boxing is where it all began for me and I was training guys and in the boxing business and I started taking jiu-jitsu.

“Then through that, I started to manage some fighters in the UFC. I found out the UFC was in trouble and that it was for sale and me and my partners bought it back in 2001.

New ground for boxing

“Fast forward to today and here I am getting back into the sport of boxing, which I always believed I would,” White continued.

“There was a few years there I wasn’t very sure, but I love the sport and I think that me and the team that I have built can do some good things for the world.”

Zuffa Boxing and Sky Sports’ first collaborative effort will get underway on Sunday, April 5 in Las Vegas – Zuffa Boxing 05: Cortes vs Garcia at the Meta Apex.
