The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is a track like no other, with its high-speed corners and unexpected amount of entertainment for fans and drivers.
The renowned testing track marked the first time in 58 years that the podium had an all British line-up.
But who were the winners and losers of the weekend?
Winner – Lewis Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton had a weekend to remember.
All eyes were on Kimi Antonelli as he pursued a fifth consecutive win, but the glory went to Hamilton in the end.
The Ferrari driver dominated the race on Sunday after taking first place on lap 41.
Following a Virtual Safety Car period that resulted from Fernando Alonso’s on-track halt, Hamilton seized his moment by pitting under the VSC, allowing him to seamlessly keep the race lead and win.
The victory marked the first race win for the British driver with the iconic Italian team Ferrari.
Loser – Kimi Antonelli
Antonelli’s weekend did not start in bliss.
The Mercedes driver sat out FP1 due to the mandatory sporting regulation that requires Formula 1 teams to field rookie drivers during practice sessions.
However, a mechanical issue then resulted in Antonelli coming to a stop with just five laps remaining in the main race.
This resulted in a broken streak as the Mercedes driver did not finish the race.
After qualifying third on Saturday afternoon, Antonelli was set to finish Sunday’s race in second which would have seen both Mercedes drivers on the podium.

Winner – George Russell
George Russell took pole position on Saturday afternoon, recovering from a disappointing result in Monaco the week before.
As the lights went out, he came off the line first but lost that position.
Then, with a lack of race pace on a hard-tyre strategy and the Virtual Safety Car period, he was compromised.
Despite losing his first-place position, Russell was still able to bring the car to the finish line and earned a well deserved second place.
Loser – Nico Hulkenberg
Audi driver Nico Hulkenberg qualified in ninth place, setting a good standard for the race.
He was on his way to possibly securing points but suffered an odd DNF.
A stray rock flicked up by Liam Lawson’s car hit the Audi, triggering the emergency kill switch and shutting down the car’s electronics.

Winner – Lando Norris
The McLaren team has been struggling to gain an understanding of their race pace this season.
However, Barcelona brought the Papaya team one step closer to unlocking their full race pace potential as Norris qualified fourth on Saturday.
He then drove a consistent race to capitalise on the late mechanical issues suffered by Antonelli and take the final spot on the podium.
Loser – Charles Leclerc
After crashing into the barrier during the last quarter of qualifying, Leclerc had his job cut out for him.
He did not have any incidents at the start of the race, pulling off an exceptional first lap as he went from seventh to 10th.
Unfortunately, he suffered a late retirement with three laps remaining that was caused by a brake failure.
With only a 41-point gap separating Hamilton and Antonelli, the championship battle remains anyone’s to lose.
Formula One fans will be excited to see what challenge Austria brings in a week’s time.
