The Dallas Cowboys suffered a disappointing start to the 26/27 NFL season after falling to a 28-20 defeat against the New York Giants on Sunday night.
The Cowboys struggled to find consistency on both sides of the ball as the Giants controlled possession and produced 394 total yards compared to the Cowboys’ 244.
Cowboys struggle offensively
Dak Prescott endured a difficult night as the Dallas quarterback finished with 175 passing yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
CeeDee Lamb provided one of the Cowboys’ bright spots, recording five receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown.
Javonte Williams also found the end zone twice, scoring once on the ground and once through the air, but Dallas struggled to establish a consistent running game.
The Cowboys managed just 18 rushing attempts and averaged 3.8 yards per carry, allowing the Giants to control the tempo for large periods.

Giants take control
New York’s offence was led by Jaxson Dart, who produced an impressive performance in his first game under new head coach John Harbaugh.
Dart completed 23 of 29 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns without throwing an interception.
Isaiah Likely was particularly effective, finishing with eight receptions for 78 yards and two touchdowns.
The Giants also controlled the clock, holding possession for more than 36 minutes and running 68 offensive plays compared to Dallas’ 52.
The result marked an impressive start to the Harbaugh era and leaves the Cowboys with plenty to address after Week 1.

Defensive concerns remain
Dallas’ defence was one of the biggest concerns from the defeat.
The Cowboys allowed New York to average 5.8 yards per play, while the Giants repeatedly extended drives and kept Prescott and the Dallas offense off the field.
Jevon Holland’s interception late in the first half also proved costly, helping New York carry momentum into the second half.
The defeat will raise further questions about whether Dallas’ defensive improvements during the offseason can translate onto the field.
With the Cowboys now 0-1, they will need a response when they face the Washington Commanders in Week 2.
