England’s bid to win the 2027 Ashes and avenge their 4-1 hammering by Australia in late 2025 will begin with the first Test at Trent Bridge on June 18 next summer.
The white-ball team, meanwhile, is firing on all cylinders under captain Harry Brook, who led his charges to a resounding T20I series win over India and then a 2-1 win in the three-match one-day international series after losing the first match.
Brook is now in the running to captain the red-ball side, which is currently without a head coach or a skipper after Brendon McCullum was relieved of red-ball duties and Ben Stokes announced his retirement from international cricket during the last Test against New Zealand.
Flower not in the running
Andy Flower has ruled himself out of the running to be England’s new red-ball coach – an appointment loaded with immediate pressure with a home Ashes series on the horizon.
Lord’s will host the second Test with the Aussies, with the third Test taking place at Edgbaston.
Southampton’s Utilita Bowl will then stage a men’s Ashes Test for the first time from July 21.
And the Kia Oval will bring the curtain down on the 2027 Ashes, hosting the fifth and final Test of a series where England will be seeking redemption after a torrid time Down Under.
England Women will also be in the hunt for Ashes glory on home soil next summer – but face a daunting task after being whitewashed 16-0 in the 2025 series in Australia.
