Jannik Sinner and Linda Nosková were crowned the men’s and women’s singles champions at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships over the weekend.
Top seed and defending champion Sinner claimed his fifth Grand Slam title by defeating French Open winner Alexander Zverev 6-7 (7-9) 7-6 (7-2) 6-3 6-4, with the German set to move up to world number two despite the loss.
Nosková, meanwhile, needed six championship points to overcome Czech compatriot Karolína Muchová 6-2 5-7 6-3 for her maiden Grand Slam crown, becoming the youngest women’s champion at SW19 since Petra Kvitová in 2011.
Sinner downs Zverev to defend title
After fending off the in-form Zverev, world number one Sinner told a packed Centre Court: “It’s amazing.
“To Alex – he got his first Grand Slam in Paris this year and he was so, so close here. If he keeps playing like this, I am sure he will have this Wimbledon trophy soon.
“It was an amazing final. It takes two players. We tried to give everything we have. I’m happy about the win, but I’m also happy about the level we both played at.
“There is no better place to play tennis, honestly. I could feel the nerves when I woke up, and this is a very, very special day.
“I never take it for granted. This crowd has given me the most special feeling you can have as a tennis player.”
Zverev, for his part, was full of praise for the Italian, saying: “Congratulations to Jannik – he showed once again why he’s the best player in the world.
“It was great to share Centre Court with you for the final. It’s a great honour to be here. Unfortunately, it didn’t go my way.
“At 29 years old, this year was the first time I actually believed I could win this Wimbledon trophy.
“It’s very special playing at Centre Court. The most unique in the entire world.”

Nosková wins all-Czech final against Muchová
Reflecting on an intense final during the trophy presentation, 21-year-old Nosková said: “It feels incredible.
“All of these matches have been so tough physically and mentally. It’s never easy to get the last point.
“Karo – you really made me work for it! I’m so glad I could play my first Grand Slam with you. We made history.
“All our Czech fans at home will be proud of us, so no matter the result, it was a good day for both of us.”
In contrast, a disappointed Muchová stated: “It’s really tough to find any words.
“Linda, my ex-friend! I’m kidding obviously, kind of! You’re so young and this is your first Grand Slam final, and the way you handled it and played was unbelievable.
“You’re a very kind person and human being, so congratulations to you and your team.
“I’m really glad to be standing here even though I’m pretty disappointed now.
“When I look to my corner, I have all my friends and family who cancelled their plans and came here for me. I appreciate them all.
“I’ll be fighting, fighting more, and I want that trophy – and I hope I get the chance to get to the final again and I will come back.”
