Former Norway defender John Arne Riise believes Manchester City midfielder Sverre Nypan has the talent to succeed at the Etihad.
Nypan spent last season on loan at EFL Championship side Middlesbrough and will turn out for Belgian Pro League team Lommel in the upcoming campaign.
Riise has also backed newly promoted Ipswich Town’s Sindre Walle Egeli to adapt well to the Premier League despite his age.
Speaking exclusively to BestBettingSites, the ex-Roma star then named Kristian Thorstvedt, Patrick Berg, Antonio Nusa and Julian Ryerson as Norwegians capable of succeeding in the English top flight should big-money moves go through.
Nypan’s future at Man City
With new Man City boss Enzo Maresca deciding to send Nypan on loan again, Riise said: “What he needs most right now is guaranteed game time.
“He’s a fantastic player, but he just needs to develop the physical aspect of his game.
“He needs to play regularly, whether that’s in a good Championship side or a similar level.
“He just needs consistent minutes at a higher level than he’s had.”

Egeli faces Premier League challenge
On Egeli’s arrival in the Premier League with promoted side Ipswich, Riise added: “When you look at certain types of young players, you always think they have the raw quality to make it.
“But people need to understand that the Premier League is a completely different beast.
“It’s a different style of football and an entirely different level of pressure.
“You need to be completely prepared mentally, not just quality-wise, because there are a lot of players with pure technical talent, but there is so much more required behind the scenes.
“So, I’m not entirely sure yet but hopefully we will see more young Norwegians step up, excel in the Premier League and help the national team grow.
“It’s a tough league to break into outside of the established names we’ve discussed.”

Other potential Norwegian stars
Asked which other Norwegians could succeed in England’s top tier in future, Riise stated: “Obviously, you have Kristian Thorstvedt [Sassuolo] who plays in Italy and has the potential to be a great player.
“Then there’s Jørgen Strand Larsen at [Crystal] Palace, who didn’t have the best end to the season.
“But for the new ones, I’ll stick with [Antonio] Nusa [RB Leipzig], Patrick Berg [Bodø/Glimt] and [Julian] Ryerson [Borussia Dortmund] for now.”
