Yuki Tsunoda will get back behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car later in February when he takes part in a special demonstration event in the United States.

The Japanese driver, who is Red Bull’s test and reserve driver for the 2026 season, is set to appear at a showrun on the streets of San Francisco on February 21, backed by Red Bull partner Ford.

Tsunoda lost his full-time race seat at the end of last season but remains involved with both Red Bull and its sister team, Racing Bulls, in a back-up capacity.

Tsunoda to drive title-winning car

In San Francisco, Tsunoda will be at the wheel of the RB7 – the Red Bull car that secured two world championships in 2011 – giving fans a rare opportunity to see an F1 car in action on public roads.

Also taking part in the demonstration are several notable names from motorsport.

Former F1 driver Scott Speed will drive a Racing Bulls car, while Ford off-road competitor Mitch Guthrie and freestyle motocross rider Aaron Colton are also on the list of participants.

“I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel of an F1 car, and to do that in [the] RB7 in San Francisco will be amazing,” Tsunoda said, as quoted by F1.

“I’m really looking forward to getting out there, doing some donuts and making some real F1 noise in front of the crowds.”

The outing will mark Tsunoda’s first public appearance in F1 machinery since he was dropped from the Red Bull race line-up for the 2026 season.

Tsunoda’s role at Red Bull

The Japanese driver originally began his Formula 1 career with AlphaTauri (now Racing Bulls) in 2021 and spent more than four seasons with that outfit before earning a promotion to Red Bull’s top team.

Despite the setback of losing his race seat, Tsunoda’s role as test and reserve driver keeps him involved in the sport.

He could be called upon to substitute for drivers at either Red Bull or Racing Bulls during the upcoming season, and he will also support both teams off the track.

The San Francisco showrun comes after the second round of pre-season testing in Bahrain and will offer fans a chance to see F1 cars up close ahead of the 2026 campaign.
