South African all-rounder Delano Potgieter has joined Hampshire for the next three matches Rothesay County Championship matches and the Vitality Blast.
The 29-year-old will join up with the Rothesay County Championship squad and will remain at the club in the Vitality Blast, with Tristan Stubbs due to arrive after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
He will also stay with the squad for Hampshire’s County Championship matches against Surrey and Sussex in June.
Good domestic record
Potgieter has a strong domestic record in South Africa.
He has played 50 First-Class matches and taken 128 wickets at an average of 23 and scored over 2,500 runs with five centuries and nine fifties, at an average of 44.20.
In the recent CSA 4-Day Series, where Potgieter was coached by Hampshire men’s Head Coach Russell Domingo and won the competition with Gauteng, he scored 606 runs – the second-most for his team, at an average of 101 – and took 10 wickets in seven matches.
In T20 cricket, he has taken 49 wickets in 97 matches and scored 1,329 runs.

Impressive strike rate
Across four years in the SA20, he has scored 280 runs at a strike rate of 140 and taken nine wickets with best figures of 5/10 against three-time champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape, who are coached by former Hampshire men’s head coach Adi Birrell.
His first assignment for the club will be against the reigning County champions, Nottinghamshire, on Friday 15 May.
