William Hill has a new favourite for the Epsom Oaks, as John and Thady Gosdens’ I’m The One rocketed to the top of the market after cruising to victory on her debut at Newbury on Friday, April 17.
The three-year-old filly has been likened to the Gosdens’ superstar mare Enable, who won both the Epsom and Irish Oaks in 2017.
The daughter of Sea the Stars was impressive on debut, winning by six lengths and barely coming out of first gear.
Such a performance means she now heads the market for the third Classic of the year, ahead of the Aidan O’Brien-trained duo of Amelia Earhart and Precise.
She’s the one?
Such a performance has seen her well supported for the Epsom Oaks with William Hill and their spokesperson Lee Phelps said:
“Following an almighty impressive performance on debut from I’m The One, she has seen significant and continued support for the Oaks.
“The John and Thady Gosden-trained filly is now as short as 7/2 with us for the Epsom fillies’ Classic.
“She was 50/1 with us for the Oaks on Friday morning, which was snapped up, with bets at 33/1 and 25/1 also struck prior to her striking debut.
“However, support has continued over the weekend and we’ve been bowled over.
“We cut her to 12/1 following her victory, but that soon disappeared as she careered into 7/1 favouritism.”

The next Enable?
Despite only just starting her career, I’m The One has drawn comparisons with Enable, who subsequently won nine more Group One races after her dual Oaks success.
Those included becoming the first three-time winner of the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes and a two-time Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner.
It seems I’m The One could take the same path as Enable, heading to Chester for the Cheshire Oaks before the main event at Epsom.
“She is now just 7/2 with us for the Oaks and all eyes will be on her planned trip to Chester,” said Phelps.
“She’s already been dubbed ‘the next Enable’, and should she emulate her in the Cheshire Oaks, all eyes will be fixed on Epsom to see if she can do the same in the Oaks.”
